Can ‘War’ surpass Shahid’s ‘Kabir Singh’?

Siddharth Anand directorial action-thriller ‘War’ has turned out to be the ultimate money spinner for Bollywood this year. The film which sees ace star Hrithik Roshan facing off with new-gen actor Tiger Shroff has the audience flocking into the theatres. The film has already entered the coveted Rs 200 crore club within just seven days of its release and is among the fastest films to cross the mark.
The film has till now collected a total of Rs 206.50 crore till Tuesday as it finishes its first week at the box office. This is also the highest first-week collection of the year, surpassing the previous hits by miles apart. ‘War’ now stands at the third spot in the list of highest grossing films of the year after ‘Kabir Singh‘ and ‘Uri – The Surgical Strike’.
The film is very well heading to be the top grosser of the year as it held strongly on Wednesday as well. As per the latest report on the, the film has held very well on Wednesday post the holiday on Tuesday and raked in around Rs 11 crore and will rise more with better evening collections.

The drop on Wednesday is in the range of 40-45% from Friday which is excellent as the film is coming off the holiday period with a seven day run already behind it. It is to be seen whether the film will be able to sustain well however signs show that it has a firm grip over the weekdays.

‘War’ is very well heading to be the top grosser of the year. Shahid Kapoor starrer ‘Kabir Singh’ which released earlier this year is the top grosser of the year. The film did a lifetime collection of Rs 276 crore. However, ‘War’ should be able to surpass the number pretty easily as it is looking all set to post a massive extended first week number.

The film is looking all set to become the biggest grosser of the year till date, however, a lot will depend on how the film holds after the second Friday at the box office. Also, ‘War’ is expected to stick around till pre-Diwali as the competiton weak till Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Housefull 4’ releases.

Helmed by Siddharth Anand, the film also features Vaani Kapoor and Ashutosh Rana in pivotal roles. Shot across seven countries, ‘War’ boasts of jaw-dropping action sequences. The film released on October 2.
