E-Health Card Scheme Himachal to Combat NCDs

Himachal Pradesh Government is going to launch E Health Card scheme at district level for all patients. The objective of E-Health Card scheme in Himachal is to combat NCDs(Non-Communicable Disease). Apart from this CM Virbhadra Singh will also launch universal health insurance scheme under which reimbursement of upto Rs 30,000 will be made for patients.

The E-Health card will be used to cover diseases like, sugar, heart disease, hypertension, high bo etc, while to avail benefits of universal health insurance scheme Himachal one has to pay annual premium of 365 to avail up to Rs 30000 medical treatment.

NHM officials said, there are schemes like Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana and Chief Minister Swasthya Bima Yojana for poor, old, handicaps and other categories but there is no such scheme for non poor population. The universal health card scheme will cover all people who are left in other scheme. There is no income, age or caste obligations under this scheme.

  1. Senior Citizens
  2. Single Women
  3. Disabled persons
  4. Contractual, Part-time workers and Daily-wage workers
  5. Anganawari Workers & Helpers
  6. Mid-day Meal workers

Benefits of Universal Heath Care Plan

  • Medical treatment worth Rs. 30,000/- per year on family floater bases under “Basic package” only in case of Hospitalizationin 173 hospitals enpanelled
  • In case of Critical illness, Rs. 1, 75,000/- per year on family floater basis under “Critical Care Package” (only in Three Hospitals viz. PGI Chandigarh, IGMC, and RPGMC Tanda, )

A maximum five members can be enrolled in a smart card so if the family size will be more than five, one additional card will be given to the family
