On fast to save Ganga, IITian-turned-seer dies

HARIDWAR: IITian-turned-seer Swami Gyan Swaroop Sanand (Professor GD Agarwal) died on Thursday at AIIMS-Rishikesh. He was on a fast-unto-death against authorities over Ganga river cleaning.
Agarwal suffered a heart attack, according to Swami Dayanand, who was assisting the professor. Sources say he died at 1pm.
The 87-year-old Ganga activist had been on a fast (taking on only water and honey) since June 22 demanding a ban on mining and hydropower projects in Ganga.
