Sunny Leone topped in merit list for junior engineer in PHED

PATNA: Sunny Leone has topped in draft merit list for the post of junior engineer recruitment which was released by Bihar Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) on February 15. No, of course not! It wasn’t Bollywood actress Sunny Leone who actually topped in the merit list, it was the girl who shares the same name as her or just a phoney.

According to the released merit list on PHED website, Sunny scored 98.50 points including 73.5 points in academics and perfect 25 points in personal experience for the junior engineer post. The candidate is daughter of Leona Leone and her application ID?is JEC/0031211 and her user ID is 2AVRCWCT.

The controversy was triggered because the name linked with the actress Sunny. The department has distanced itself from the controversy by putting the blame on applicants. The PHED official claimed the mistake was not from their end but that of the candidates who submitted the form online.

Ashok Kumar, PHED joint secretary told this newspaper on Wednesday that the department has yet to verify whether Sunny who topped in the draft merit list was a real person or a fake. “Seven day time has been given to candidates who applied for junior engineer post to make corrections in their submitted applications and to submit the original documents offline. The department would release the final merit list only after verifying the applicants,” he said.

Apart from Sunny, number of candidates has submitted bogus applications. The candidate who got third rank in draft merit list was bvcxzbnnb with 92.89 points and Abhishek Kumar with 81.84 points and shockingly, his father name is Lalan Khan among several other fake applicants.

Ashok said the department would take stern action against the bogus candidates after verifying their documents. “The department would scrap their applications and they would face action for submitting fake documents and information to the website,” he said.

The application for junior engineer post was submitted online between January 15 and January 31. According to joint secretary Ashok, 17,000 candidates applied for the post against 214 posts and submitted all the documents by uploading on PHED website.

“The computer has manually selected the candidates whose scoring better in both academics and personal experience accordingly to the submitted documents by the applicants. The criterion to select the junior engineer was based on 75% on their academic basis and 25% on their personal experience. The selection would be done on merit, there is no written exam for this post. This post is only eligible for candidates who possess Diploma in Civil Engineer from Polytechnic,” he said.

Meanwhile, in a notice issued by PHED?Bihar, it is stated that the list is a draft merit list and candidates can raise objections from February 18 to 24 online at, following which the final merit list would be issued by the department only after verifying the candidates’ documents.

When it comes to examination, the Bihar has faced a lot of embarrassment in past including BSEB 2016 disgraced arts topper Ruby Rai, who pronounced ‘prodigal science’ to ‘political science’ and justified that the subject was about cooking and a picture of Lord Ganesh was mistakenly printed on the admit card of a student of Lalit Narayan Mithila University among other such instances.
